They say change is hard; but they also say change is good. We agree, on both counts.

After 17 wonderful years, Freedom Fest - formerly the summer keystone of the Woodford Humane Society's annual lineup of events - has been retired. Taking its place is the Summer Gala, debuting on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at the Keeneland Entertainment Center and Keene Barn.

We know Freedom Fest has a special place in the hearts of many of our supporters. It does in ours, too. But when you join us in this new adventure, we think you'll find that the Gala builds on the strong foundation that Freedom Fest cultivated for more than a decade - and adds a new degree of comfort and elegance that we know you'll enjoy.

The Summer Gala continues Freedom Fest's tradition of sophisticated dining, exciting auctions, and elegant fun with a touch of horse racing flair. And with the move to the Keeneland Entertainment Center, we're happy to say that fun will now be air conditioned!

Another thing that will not change, this year or ever, is our commitment to putting the animals first: with the Gala, our goal is to maintain Freedom Fest's accomplishment of sending more than 80% of proceeds straight back to care for our homeless pets. With your support, we know that's possible.

Thank you, friends, for joining us on this new endeavor! Together we can make the Summer Gala a shining success worthy of its predecessor, and in doing so continue to save lives and find homes for the hundreds of homeless pets that depend on Woodford Humane each year.
